- Lie or mislead – you’ll get caught out and look stupid
- Waffle and write detailed accounts of what you’ve done since childhood
- Include stuff that is irrelevant to your current career path, such as the bar-job you had whilst at university
- Include anything particularly negative
- Waste unnecessary space on hobbies and interests – keep it brief
- Belabour your education history – just what you ultimately achieved
- Make any spelling or grammatical errors (spell-check is not infallible!)
- Submit your CV if you don’t think it’s an excellent summary of you as an individual
